Development needs arise as soon as an employee joins you. These could be skills or knowledge based and can be addressed through an induction programme and are ongoing throughout the probationary period.

Beyond that period, development needs arise through, for example, the performance appraisal process, the introduction of new processes, policies or procedures or a promotion or transfer to a new role.

You may wish to provide individual coaching or mentoring, introduce an e-learning programme or run group development programmes.
